Amnesty International Publications has released a report: DEADLY DELIVERY – THE MATERNAL HEALTH CARE CRISIS IN THE USA.
The report states that the five main causes of maternal death in the USA are: Embolism 20% (A blood clot that blocks an essential blood vessel, for example in the lungs), Hemorrhage 17% (Severe blood loss), Pre-eclampsia and eclampsia 16% (Disorders associated with excessively high blood pressure), Infection 13%, Cardiomyopathy 8% (Heart muscle disease).
