The New Zealand Anaesthetic Technicians Society is calling for expressions of interest from Anaesthetists keen to become an NZATS examiner. NZATS would like expressions of interest from FANZCA registered Anaesthetists. A demonstrated interest in teaching and/or involvement (management/education) with anaesthesia technicians would be helpful in supporting your application.
The qualification for anaesthesia technicians is set at a diploma level (level 7). During the training most examinations and assessments will be conducted by the education provider Auckland University of Technology, but at the end of the theoretical papers and to gain Registration as an Anaesthetic Technician students are required to pass in the NZATS Registration Examination.
As an NZATS examiner you will be expected to participate in the NZATS examination programme at least once a year; (these exams are conducted twice yearly) there are also assessments that are conducted by the education provider during the year that you may be asked to participate in. Prior to undertaking examining duties, as a new examiner you will take part in a validation session (usually one day on examination technique) and will be guided through the NZATS processes as an examiner in training. NZATS Examination Committee will meet transport and accommodation costs incurred while attending the examinations, training and validation sessions, but does not pay a daily allowance or examination fee.
If you would like more information or forward an expression of interest please e-mail either Andrew Warmington, Awarmington@adhb.govt.nz or Nicola Smith-Guerin, Nicolas@adhb.govt.nz.
Applications close on 30 June 2010.
