ESA Simulation Masterclass in Adult Procedural Sedation Analgesia – Simple and Safe, Mainz Germany, 23-24 October 2017

Tribute to the 2017 ESA Guideline on PSA

The Adult Procedural Sedation Analgesia Simulation Masterclass consists of full-scale patient-simulator with the necessary anaesthesia equipment.

Target Audience

The course is open to ESA full members who speak and write English fluently. This course is aimed at physicians or teams of physicians and nurses.

Learning Objectives

The programme contains minimum theoretical lectures. Participants are able to perform procedural sedation in a simulated environment. They will observe patients clinically, use various monitoring devices and finally apply the current available guidelines to these experiences.

Participants are able to

  • Apply procedural sedation using different approaches
  • Recognise complications during procedural sedation
  • Judge on the value of various monitoring technologies
  • Recognise the additional value of capnography during sedation

ESA Masterclass in Scientific Writing, Katowice Poland, 21 - 23 November 2017

The Masterclass in Scientific Writing is an advanced scientific workshop dedicated to learning how to write critically and appraise scientific articles and abstracts.

Target audience

Young anaesthesiologists who already have some experience in the clinical research field and are clearly motivated in their choice of an academic path for their medical career in the future.

The course is open to all ESA Members who speak and write English fluently, already have some publications in their native language and are making recognised efforts to develop their scientific writing skills.

Learn by doing

The programme contains a series of lectures and workshops during which participants will apply the knowledge learnt during lectures through practical exercises. The Faculty will consist of international experts in scientific medical writing who received outstanding evaluation by attendees of the previous course.

The Masterclass will be held from Tuesday 21 to Thursday 23 November 2017.

The 5th International Congress on Cardiac Problems in Pregnancy (CPP 2018) Bologna, Italy, 22 - 25 February 2018

WFSA SAFE-T Summit 2018, London, 13 April 2018

The first ever SAFE-T (Safe Anaesthesia For Everybody - Today) Summit aims to advance the global patient safety agenda. Bringing together leading providers from the perioperative team we will highlight the importance of working together to address the healthcare challenges identified by the Lancet Commission on Global Surgery. In partnership with related industry, governments and NGOs, this one day Summit will contribute to safer anaesthesia, surgical and obstetric care around the world.

World-renowned experts will open sessions with theme-setting presentations. Facilitated group discussions will develop recommendations and identify practical ways forward.

  • Update the situation of surgical and anaesthesia safety and capacity
  • Refine and define core metrics for measuring global surgical and anaesthesia safety and capacity
  • Showcase partnership approaches with governments, NGOs, industry, and philanthropy organisations
